Josh Burkart

Senior / Major: History
Josh loves the game of hockey and is excited to play another year with the BYU Cougars. Josh is happily married to his wife Kellie. Josh served an LDS mission in the Philippines from 2005-2007
Nathan Hymas
# 15 6-0 195 lbs Defense / Right Shot
Hometown: Penticton, British Columbia Canada Born: August 7, 1985
Junior / Major: Leisure Services Management
Nathan played AAA hockey in British Columbia, and Junior B hockey in the CSHL in Ohio. Nathan is an instructor at the Okanagan Hockey Academy. Nathan served an LDS Mission in Argentina in 2005-07. To quote Nathan; “The only thing I love more than Cougar Hockey is my gorgeous wife Megan”
Todd Jaramillo
#4 5-10 / 180 lbs Defense / Right Shot
Hometown; Orem, Utah Born: October 27, 1986
Junior / Major: Exercise Science
Todd has played hockey for 14 years. He played AAA Hockey for the Utah Stars. He played high school hockey for the Timpanogas Timberwolves who where Utah High School State Champions in 2005. Todd is playing again for BYU after serving an LDS mission in Kennewick, Washington. After attending BYU, Todd aspires to study medicine.

Mike has played Hockey since he was four. Mike played hockey for the Minnesota Select State Team.
Ryan Newton
# 17 5-11 / 185 lbs Defense / Right shot
Hometown: Duluth, Minnesota Born: August 30, 1985
Junior / Major: Leisure Services Management
Ryan started playing hockey at age 6. Ryan’s High School hockey team placed 3rd in the Minnesota State Championships in 2004. Before serving an LDS Mission in Mexico, Ryan played hockey his freshman year for the Cougars, and was named “Rookie of the Year”. Ryan now returns for his 3rd season at BYU as the team’s captain.

Mio Aura

Hometown: Helsinki, Finland Born: September 24, 1988

Mio started playing hockey in Finland at the age of three. Mio played Junior B hockey for the Espoo Blues. Came to the United States and played for the San Jose sharks and went to the U.S. National championship as a pee wee. Returned to Finland and served in the Finish Navy. Mio family still lives in Finland while Mio followed his sister and returned to the U.S. to attend BYU.
Eric Peterson

With a smile Eric claims he started playing hockey after being inspired by the “Mighty Duck” movies. Eric played hockey for East High in Salt Lake. He served an LDS Mission in Malaga, Spain.
Nick Bartholomew

Freshman / Major: Undeclared
Nick attended Meridian High School in Meridian, Idaho. His high school hockey team won four City Championships, two Idaho State Championships and where high school regional championship runner-ups two years in-a-row. Nick also played for the AA Junior Steel Heads.

Chad began playing hockey at the age of nine. He played hockey for Murray High School. Chad played hockey in the PHL for the “Crazzy Canuks”. Chad severed an LDS Mission in Singapore.

Mitch played hockey for Scotch Plains Fanwood High School. He played Junior B hockey for the Jersey Wildcats Hockey Club. Mitch is interested in everything thing “Polish”; Culture, history, food and especially Polish girls!

Ben is an athlete that enjoys many sports but hockey is his favorite. He first began playing at the age of 3. Ben served an LDS Mission in Hong Kong in 2004-2006. He is excited to complete his final year playing Cougar hockey and is supported by his greatest fan… his wife Kelsey.

Ryan Teel’s father was a Coronel in the Air Force which required his family to move around a lot. Ryan finally had an opportunity to play hockey for James Madison High School in San Antonio Texas. He continued to play hockey when he attended Northern Virginia College. Ryan served a LDS Mission in Santiago, Chile. Ryan transferred to BYU last year and is now a member of the BYU Cougars. Earlier this year he became engaged to Danielle Gustaveson and they are planning a November, 2009 wedding.

Devin has been playing hockey since he was 4 years old. He attended Huston High School and won 3 Alaska State Championship from 2003-05. He played AA hockey for the Mat-su Eagles and the Big Lake Winter Hawks. Devin served an LDS Mission in Chihuahua, Mexico. In September of 2009 Devin married his new wife Brooke.

Alan Rosenham

Alan is relatively new to competitive hockey and did not start playing until after high school. Since learning to play goalie, his teams have won three PHL championships with him guarding the net. He served an LDS Mission in Everett, Washington and married Julie Christiansen in August, 2009.

Brent grew up playing roller hockey in California. When Brent was little he learned to play goalie because his older brother Matt “strapped pillows on him and would take shots at him.” Brent played Goalie for Mountainview High School in California and the team was league champions in 2003. Brent served an LDS Mission in Eugene, Oregon.
