DEFENSE
#16 Josh Burkart
Position: Defense

Hometown: Highland, Michigan
Height: 5′ 9″ Weight: 150 lbs.
Josh loves the game of hockey and is excited for his last season as a BYU Cougar. Upon graduation, Josh looks forward to his commissioning as a 2nd Lieutenant in The United States Marine Corps. He served an LDS mission in the Philippines from 2005-2007. Josh and His wife Kellie are expecting their first child.
#2 Adam Farero

Hometown: White Lake, Michigan
Height: 5′ 10″ Weight: 185 lbs.
Adam Farero is a junior this year for the Cougars. He is from White Lake Michigan and has been playing hockey since he was three years old. Adam originally came out to play for the team as a non-member of the church, but since that first year he has been baptized, served a successful 2 year mission in Nevada Las Vegas and was just this past summer married in the Salt Lake Temple. Hockey, he says, has had an enormous influence on him for the better.
#26 Aaron Cox

Hometown: Boise, Idaho
Height: 6′ 5″ Weight: 185 lbs
Aaron picked up hockey at the age of 11 and never looked back. He also played lacrosse for Rocky Mountain High School in Meridian, Idaho where he graduated in 2010. He loves playing the guitar and singing as well. He is looking forward to serving an LDS mission this summer and plans on majoring in Athletic Training.Mark is a nice guy and a team player. He served an LDS msision in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Scott grew up playing hockey in Dallas, Texas. He served an LDS mission in Indonesia from 2008-2010. This is Scott’s second year playing hockey for BYU.
#7 Tanner Billingsley

Hometown: Orem, Utah
Height: 6′ 2″ Weight: 200 lbs
Tanner is from Chicago, Illinois and has been playing hockey since he was six years old. He is recently returned from serving an LDS mission in Ogden, Utah and spent the summer volunteering at an orphanage in Peru.

Josh has been playing hockey since he was 7 years old. He has received the team MVP award twice while playing AA hockey. Josh served his mission in the Utah Provo Mission and is very excited to be back in Provo and playing at BYU.
#30 Scott Mehr

Height: 6’3″ Weight: 180 lbs
Scott has played hockey for 12 years, and was an all-conference goaltender for Lakeland High School in Wisconsin. Scott also plays golf and owns his own DJ business.He loves the sport of hockey, and is excited to compete and represent BYU. His grandfather Walter S. Mehr, was head coach of the BYU hockey team from 77′-78′ and more recently the IceCats in 03′-04′. Scott’s uncles, Dave, Dennis, Doug, and Dale Mehr played for BYU hockey as well. Scott will continue the tradition of BYU hockey as he plays a great season for the Cougars.

#15 Nathan Hymas

Hometown: Penticton, British Columbia, Canada
Height: 6′ 0″ Weight: 180 lbs.
Nate played for BYU during his freshman year and then served an LDS mission in Argentina from 2005-2007. He has been playing hockey for 10 years. He played Midget AAA in Canada and Junior hockey in Ohio and Michigan. Nathan is happily married to his wife Megan.
#17 Ryan Newton

Hometown: Duluth, Minnesota
Height: 5′ 11″ Weight: 180 lbs.
Senior/Major: Leisure Services Management. Minor(s): Spanish/Business
Ryan is in his final year with the BYU Cougar Hockey Team. He started playing hockey at age 6. Ryan’s High School hockey team placed 3rd in the Minnesota State Championships in 2004. Before serving an LDS Mission in Mexico, Ryan played hockey his freshman year for the Cougars and was named “Rookie of the Year”. He spends his summers instructing at the Okanagan Hockey School in Penticton British Columbia. This past Spring, along with teammate Nathan Hymas, Ryan started a successful window washing business, Exclusive Shine.

Cameron started playing hockey at the age of twelve in Salt Lake City, Utah. Shortly after that, he and his family moved to British Columbia, Canada, to attend the Okanagan Hockey Academy where he played Midget AAA. Cam also played Junior B in Canada for the Summerland Sting of the KIJHL for two seasons before serving an LDS mission in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is his first year as a BYU Cougar!
#8 Mio Aura

Hometown: Orem, Utah
Height: 5′ 7″ Weight: 160 lbs
Mio started playing hockey in Finland at the age of three. Mio played Junior B hockey for the Espoo Blues. He came to the United States and played for the San Jose Junior Sharks Pee Wee team where he went to the U.S. National championship. Mio returned to Finland and served in the Finish Navy. His family still lives in Finland while Mio followed his sister and returned to the U.S. to attend BYU.

Bucky grew up in Warroad, Minnesota. He learned to skate as soon as he was able to walk. He played Warroad Youth Hockey for 13 years, then played Warroad High School varsity hockey as a sophomore and all the way through his senior year. His High School team went to 3 straight Minnesota State High School hockey tournamentsplacing 3rd in two of them, and losing a heartbreaker in the State Title game one year, placing 2nd. Bucky loves the game of hockey and is very excited to be playing for the BYU Cougars.
#4 Noah Frost

Hometown: Bangor, Maine
Height: 5′ 10″ Weight: 155 lbs.
Noah graduated from Bangor High School in 2010 where he played hockey, soccer and tennis for the four years he was there. He has been playing hockey since he was very young. He comes from a family of seven. He enjoys playing frisbee and likes to eat lasagna and ice cream.
#22 Eric Peterson

Hometown: Salt Lake City, UT
Height: 5′ 6″ Weight: 150 lbs.
Eric Peterson has been a hockey fan for as long as he can remember. He joined a league when he was 10 and later played for East High. This is Eric’s second season with the BYU team. Other hobbies include skiing, snowboarding, and piano. Eric served 2 years in the Spain Málaga misson before joining the BYU Cougars Hockey Team.
#12 Ashton Ripley

Hometown: Birmingham, Alabama
Height: 5′ 9″ Weight: 190 lbs.
Ashton grew up playing roller hockey and only started playing ice hockey in high school. He played for the Birmingham Devils, an 18 and under travel team. Ashton served an LDS mission in Londrina, Brazil from February 2007-09. Ashton has been happily married for a year.
#18 Logan Pattison

Hometown: Hampton, New Brunswick, Canada
Height: 5′ 10″ Weight: 180 lbs.
Logan started playing hockey at age 5. He grew up playing for the Hampton Huskies in the minor hockey program and won a conference championship with his team in Midget. Logan played for BYU in the second half of last season. He enjoys all sports but Hockey is by far his favorite and, like all true Canadians, he loves to eat Poutine and Donairs.

Wade has played hockey since 3rd grade, and loves it. After a 3 year hiatus during high school, he picked it back up and played his senior year for Monarch High School. The team went on to win the state championship in the tier II jv division. This is his freshman year at BYU, and he’s more than excited to be a part of the BYU Cougars Hockey Team.
#13 John Ternieden

Hometown: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Height: 5’10″ Weight: 155 lbs
John grew up playing and officiating hockey in Toronto, Ontario. He recently returned from serving an LDS mission in Cameroon which is part of the DR Congo, Kinshasa mission. This is John’s first year at BYU having transferred from BYU-Idaho. He is a communication major and hopes to be able to emphasize in Public Relations. John is also the first second generation player for BYU hockey, his father having also played on the team.
#20 Tim Hope

Hometown: Temecula, CA
Height: 5’8″ Weight: 175 lbs
Tim has played hockey since he was 8 years old, in California. He played throughout his high school years along with playing football and wrestling. Tim served a mission in Bulgaria. He is now majoring in Exercise Science.
